Memorial Day weekend was what I would call rather typical here in the Northwest with lots of clouds, a little sunshine and some drizzle or scattered showers. Of course the brief interlude Friday and Saturday evenings with the intense thunderstorms kind of broke that pattern up a bit.
Friday night the heaviest rain was on the west side of the county while Saturday night eastern areas had a good downpour. And so it goes.
I don’t see a return to extended 80-degree-plus weather anytime soon, looking at forecast models Monday afternoon. We will be on the ragged edge of a boundary of cool and damp weather with Puget Sound getting the brunt of the weather. So the forecast depends just how far the jet stream sags southward.
Looking ahead it appears the beginning of June will be similar to the month of May, a little on the cool and damp side of things. This coincides with the Portland Rose Festival so that doesn’t surprise me. Let’s hope extended computer models are incorrect.
