What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:
1
Jack Lummus, Foy Draper, Elmer Gedeon, Al Blozis, Charles Paddock, Nile Kinnick, and Pat Tillman.
These men are just a handful of the thousand of United States servicemen and women who gave their lives for their country.
They also happened to be professional athletes. It doesn’t make them any more special than anyone else who lost their life in battle.
On this Memorial Day, please remember all those who gave their life for our country.

The Indianapolis 500 featured a poignant tribute to the late Dan Wheldon. The Coca-Cola 600 gave race fans a monotonous four-hour ride honoring the protection of points in the Chase standings.
This wasn’t your granddaddy’s NASCAR race, with the usual blaze sheet metal and the contentious scrapes. No crashes, only five cautions in a painless 3 hours and 51 minutes — a race record — during the 600-mile marathon.
If this were a report card, the race would get an “A” for cleanliness and an “F” for personality. There was a nice anecdotal feel to Kasey Kahne’s first victory for Hendrick Motorsports in his 300th career start, but both milestones were overshadowed by the steady drone of laps clicking by.

The NBA playoffs keep providing more drama.
This is reality TV at its genuine best. Basketball doesn’t need any manufactured subplots.
Wouldn’t you rather watch LeBron James vs. Rajon Rondo than Freddie vs. Abner on Storage Wars? Dunk beats junk.
The Heat demolished the Knicks, solved the Pacers and now waits to see whether it can advance to the NBA Finals, starting here on Monday.
San Antonio vs. Oklahoma City commenced Sunday.
Anticipation. After a shortened regular season (which should be made permanent because 82 mostly boring games is too much NBA), the second season is reaching its crescendo.
