Nicole Kellams, Mountain View softball
Nicole Kellams has been voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of May 14-19 by a vote of fans on Facebook.
Kellams collected 44.2 percent of the 593 votes cast this week to beat out Columbia River baseball player Oscar Golberg, who had 34.7 percent.
Kellams pitched the Thunder to two victories at the 3A bi-district tournament, including the state-clinching win over Prairie. She didn’t walk a batter in 20 innings and went 3 for 3 with two RBI vs. Auburn Mountainview.
The other candidates were Skyview soccer player Carter Johnson, Union girls track and field athlete Alexis Fuller and Skyview boys track and field athlete Jameson Shirley.
