How many people can be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation in a single evening? Clark County Fire District 6 and Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center want to find out.
The agencies have issued the CPR Community Challenge to county residents. They’re offering a free CPR training session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 24 as part of National EMS Week. It’s being held at Salmon Creek Elementary School, 1601 N.E. 129th St.
The training will cover hands-only CPR, or CPR without rescue breathing, which is used to save someone who goes into cardiac arrest. Rescue breathing CPR is recommended for infants and children, victims of drowning, drug overdoses and breathing problems.
The hands-only CPR training — which can be learned in as few as 22 minutes — does not result in a CPR/First Aid certification or card.
