Vancouver Lake will come alive today through Sunday with some of the more intense competition Clark County hosts each year.
High school rowers from around the Northwest converge at Vancouver Lake to race for regional championships and national championship spots. Among the more than 1,000 high school athletes expected to compete are members of the Vancouver Lake Crew, the rowing team that includes students from around Clark County. Vancouver Lake Crew has routinely qualified a boat or two for nationals.
Racing is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Vancouver Lake Park is the place to view the races on the 2,000-meter course — and to support dedicated athletes who have trained for months for this big regatta.
