Extra patrols will keep an eye out for unbuckled drivers on Clark County roads between May 21 and June 3.
Participating agencies include the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol and the Battle Ground, Ridgefield and Vancouver police departments.
When the primary seat belt law went into effect in 2002, about 82 percent of drivers in the state used seat belts, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. Today, 97.5 percent of people use seat belts, the release said.
