Southwest Washington veterans and their families are invited to observe Armed Forces Day on Saturday at the Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St.

The free family event, from 1-4 p.m., will include music, food, children’s activities, dental services, veterans assistance services, and career and financial workshops. One of two Armed Forces Day observances on the Fort Vancouver National Site, it is sponsored by Partners in Careers. The Vancouver nonprofit provides job training, placement and coaching for veterans and other job seekers.

“PIC and our community partners are joining forces to say ‘thank you’ to our veterans and provide resources to support them as they return home,” Pam Brokaw, executive director of Partners in Careers, said in a news release. “There will be a diversity of employment information, as well as fun things for families to do together.”

The group will join other agencies and organizations, including the Clark County Family YMCA, to provide a range of services and family activities.

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington dental van will provide mobile dental services, said David Benedetti, program development manager with Partners in Careers.

For more information, call Partners in Careers at 360-696-8417.

A nearby site in the Vancouver Barracks also has scheduled an observance. The Vancouver Exchange, which is the birthplace of the military post exchange system, will have an Armed Forces Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is on the east end of Hatheway Road, just north of East Fifth Street, and will offer food samples and free items.
