An early stumble didn’t knock the Skyview boys soccer team off its game on Wednesday.

Carter Johnson scored three goals and the Storm advanced to the Class 4A state quarterfinals with a 4-1 win over Roosevelt at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.

Bryce Schomburg gave the Roughriders an early 1-0 lead, but the once the Storm sorted out things in the back they seized control of the contest.

Skyview (15-4) will face Lake Stevens, probably on Saturday at Kiggins Bowl. The time of that quarterfinal match is to be determined. Lake Stevens defeated Jefferson 2-1 in a penalty-kick shootout on Wednesday.

Against Roosevelt, Skyview took charge by scoring three goals in quick succession during the first half. Two of those were from Johnson, who completed his second three-goal outing of the season by scoring the only goal of the second half.

Sean Price scored the go-ahead goal for the Storm.

Class 1A boys soccer

Overlake of Redmond beat Seton Catholic 9-0 on Wednesday in a 1A first-round state tournament match.

Also on Wednesday, Seattle Academy beat White Salmon 5-1. Seattle Academy advances to face Ridgefield in a state quarterfinal match scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas.

Class 1B/2B golf

Zach Rohrer shot 171 to place fifth at Highland Golf Course in Cosmopolis and lead the King’s Way boys to a state berth and the first district championship in program history.

Chris Crenshaw (172) placed sixth, Clayton Rajewich (176) was ninth and Ryan McLean (180) tied for 13th as King’s Way won with a 699 team score. Wahkiakum was second, at 703.

Also for King’s Way, Tiffany Hansen shot 96-102–198 to claim the individual district championship and also qualify for state. The sophomore was district runner-up last year.
