The state Liquor Control Board will have a live auction May 24, auctioning off the rights to 18 state liquor stores that were not claimed by top bidders in the state online auction that ended April 20.
Bidders of the unclaimed stores, including one in Vancouver at 3425 S.E. 192nd Ave., did not pay their posted bid and therefore sacrificed their deposit, according to liquor control board officials.
Registration for the live public auction begins at 9 a.m. at the liquor control board’s distribution center, 4401 East Marginal Way, Seattle. The auction starts at 10 a.m. and requires a $10,000 bid deposit. Visit www.liq.wa.gov for more details.
Bidders representing 149 state liquor stores already have paid $25.9 million in bid fees to the state. Bids in the original online auction that ended April 20 totaled $30.75 million. Following the live auction, the control board estimates total bids and fees will exceed $31 million.
