Vancouver-based Northwest Pipe Co. on Monday reported a profit of $4.7 million, or 50 cents per diluted share, for the January-to-March period. That compares with a profit of $2.9 million, or 31 cents per diluted share, for the same first-quarter period in 2011.
The company, which makes steel pipe primarily for drinking water systems, said it had net sales of $142.2 million in the first quarter of this year. That compares with net sales of $111.5 million during the same period a year ago.
