The family of John Zupan, founder of Zupan’s Markets, donated $450,000 to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center following Zupan’s September death.

The Vancouver man received extensive trauma care from Legacy Emanuel trauma surgeons, who kept him alive until family and close friends could arrive at the hospital after he was in a vehicle crash.

In honor of Zupan, his family donated $450,000 to the hospital to support the expansion of the critical care unit. The hospital named the John J. Zupan Emergency Department Waiting Room in his memory.

The Zupan family also set up the John J. Zupan Memorial Fund through Legacy Emanuel Medical Center Foundation. The fund has received more than $20,000 to support the trauma program.
