Seth Rayburn improved to 8-0 on the mound this season and helped the Columbia River baseball team extend its with an 11-2 win over Bonney Lake in the Class 3A bi-district tournament.
Oscar Golberg hit a home run and a double and drove in two runs to lead a 13-hit attack.
Columbia River will have two opportunities to win one game to advance to state. The first shot comes Wednesday, when the Chieftains play Hazen at 7 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview High School.
Enumclaw 9, Camas 4 — The Papermakers were done in by a six-run fourth inning by Enumclaw as Camas season ended at 14-7.
“We’re disappointed to be done, but we’ve had a good run at it the last couple of years,” Camas coach Joe Hallead said.
Jace Schumacher and Connor McClellan had run-scoring singles for Camas, and Nate Culver added a double.
Ridgefield 6, La Center 0 — The Spudders bounced back from an opening-round loss to Montesano to advance in the consolation bracket at the 1A district tournament.Ridgefield will play Tenino at 2 p.m. Friday in Castle Rock in a winner-to-state/loser-out game. La Center was eliminated after losing 7-2 to Hoquiam in the first round.
Boys soccer
Columbia River 1, Fort Vancouver 0 — Eli Gaynor scored on an assist from Sam Niedner in the first half as Columbia River advanced to the 3A bi-district playoffs.
Tumwater 3, Washougal 0 — Tumwater scored three times in the final 30 minutes of what was a close match in the semifinals of the Class 2A District 4 boys soccer tournament.
Washougal had a ball go off the crossbar, had a goal called back, and another would-be goal stopped by a highlight-reel save.
Hockinson 2, Centralia 1 — The Hawks got two first-half goals from Langdon Rosco to extend their season in the 2A district tournament.
That sets up a showdown with Clark County rival Washougal on Thursday at Battle Ground’s District Stadium.
The winner of that match will play Saturday for the final berth to state.
Softball
Ridgefield 4-4, La Center 1-0 — Shannon Boyle threw a no-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader, just minutes after throwing a one-hitter in the first game.
Boyle struck out six in each game.
Ridgefield won 4-1 and then 4-0 to finish in a tie for second place in the Trico League. The district tournament is next week.
The Spudders are hoping to return to the Class 1A state tournament.
Battle Ground 3, Union 1 — With the win, the Tigers clinched second place in the 4A Greater St. Helens League and have advanced to the bi-district tournament.
Union, No. 3, will play a pig-tail game in an effort to make it to bi-district.
