Fircrest — The Vancouver branch of the Salvation Army was thrilled to receive a donation of $2,706.45 from Riverview Community Bank “to help replenish bare shelves in our food pantry,” business administrator Steve Rusk said. The local branch of the nationwide Christian charity serves approximately 1,400 needy households every month — that’s more people with fewer resources than ever before. “We are fighting hard to keep up with the demand during these tough economic times,” said Rusk. “Many new faces are coming through the door needing food for the first time in their lives. For those who experience chronic poverty, the need is growing even greater.”
