Clark County Fire District 6 and Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center will hold a free CPR training session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 24 as part of National EMS Week.
The CPR Community Challenge event, which is open to the public, is at Salmon Creek Elementary School, 1601 N.E. 129th St.
The training teaches hands-only CPR, which is CPR without rescue breathing that is used to save someone who goes into cardiac arrest. It does not result in a CPR/First Aid certification or card. The training can be learned in as few as 22 minutes.
“CPR saves lives; the sooner CPR is begun after a sudden death, the greater the chance of that person surviving, in some cases by 40 percent,” said Fire District 6 EMS Capt. Mike Hollingsworth.
