High School Athlete of the Week

Alexa Efraimson, Camas girls track and field

Camas freshman Alexa Efraimson has been voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of April 23-28 by vote of fans on Facebook.

Efraimson collected 40.8 perent of the 186 votes cast this week to beat out Skyview baseball player Cole Buruse, who had 27.4 percent of the vote.

The freshman won the 800 meters at the Centennial Invitational with a time of 2:08.92, the best time run in the state this season for an athlete at any classification. She finished last week owning state-best times for 800 and 1,600 meters. Her 800 time broke the Camas school record and ranked second nationwide for the season.

The other candidates were Heritage track and field athlete Sean Keller, Skyview girls tennis player Sammi Hampton and Woodland softball player Makayla Lefever.
