An upcoming presentation will explore humans’ influence on global climate change, perhaps offering a counterpoint to a well-attended event questioning those impacts earlier this year.

“The Scientific Case for Human Influence on Global Climate” will gather three guest speakers for an April 10 presentation at Portland State University in Southwest Portland. Oregon State University climatologist Phil Mote and others will explore evidence that points to human impacts on climate change. The event follows a January presentation arguing that recent climate shifts — and the human effect on them — are not as dire as many have claimed.

The presentation is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 in the Grand Ballroom inside PSU’s Smith Memorial Student Union building, along the Park Blocks in Southwest Portland. The event is free.

Organizers expect a large crowd, so attendees should plan to arrive early, the meteorological society said.
