The Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center will offer a pair of free workshops on backyard composting. The classes will answer basic questions about techniques, include an introduction to composting science, and visit a composting demonstration site, according to Columbia Springs.

The first workshop begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway. The second starts at 10 a.m. at the Center for Agricultural, Scientific and Environmental Education, 11104 N.E. 149th St. in Brush Prairie. Both workshops should last about two hours.

Columbia Springs has scheduled additional composting workshops in April, May and June that carry a registration cost, and focus on using redworms.

A full list of programs and information is available at Columbia Springs. For more information, call Columbia Springs. 360-882-0936.
