Supporters of King’s Way Christian Schools celebrated the ground-breaking Tuesday for a track and a sports field north of the school.

The facilities, when completed, will be part of a joint use agreement between the school and Clark County, which built Luke Jensen Sports Park east of the school.

The north fields will add an eight-lane running track and a play field to the amenities at the 20-acre Luke Jensen Sports Park, which includes a large sports field, two additional baseball fields and two soccer fields.

The school also has plans for two multi-use synthetic turf fields east of the school, said Marilyn Roseburrough, athletic fields fund manager.

Clark County Commissioner Marc Boldt attended the ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday.

On March 17, Salmon Creek Little League played the first games at Luke Jensen Sports Park. The park, named for a King’s Way student who died of leukemia in May 2010, will be dedicated June 16.

Roseburrough said construction of the school’s fields will depend on fundraising efforts.
