A solid day of pitching and some timely hitting got the Clark College baseball team a sweep of Treasure Valley on Friday at Kindsfather Field.

Clark (8-2) won the first game 3-2 behind the pitching of Chance Nelson and Eli Fulton. The second game went 10 innings before Clark prevailed 5-4 as the Penguins rallied late.

Nelson threw eight innings for the win in the first game, allowing one run on seven hits with three strikeouts. Fulton earned the save.

Casey Sawyer was 3 for 3 with a double, and Bud Collura was 2 for 4.

In the second game, Clark had to rally after Treasure Valley took a 4-3 lead after eight innings.

Bryce McKinney’s two-out single in the ninth scored pinch runner Michael Gonzales to tie the game at 4-4. Gonzales ran for Nick Woods who had doubled.

In the 10th, Joel Johnson singled with one out, went to second when Collura reached on catcher’s interference, and then scored on Jordan Van Atta’s game-winning double.

Kyle Barros, T.J. Pruneda and Marcus Manderbach combined on a four-hitter for Clark with Manderbach getting the win.

Clark is scheduled to host Linn-Benton in a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader at Kindsfather Field.
