The first couple days of winter have been kind of a trip, eh? Oh, did I say winter? I meant spring; at least that’s what the calendar shows me. We managed to get some snow in the higher elevations and a mix here at city levels at times for the fourth week in a row.
My high temperature here in Salmon Creek on Wednesday was only 39 degrees, with rain and occasional wet snowflakes. The outlook at this late afternoon writing is that Clark County could see a brief shot of wet snow as the stationary weather front moves eastward.
At 5 p.m. Wednesday, most locations in Clark County above 500 feet were getting some snow. This follows an unprecedented event over parts of Western Oregon. Eugene had over 7 inches of snow Wednesday in some areas. Snow fell steadily in Corvallis, as well, and Salem recorded measurable snow.
Now, this all took place Wednesday with temperatures in the Puget Sound region bumping 50 degrees and parts of Eastern Oregon in the 60s. Go figure. And if there were any concerns with our local mountain snow pack, that is out the window, as over 2 feet of snow fell overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. .
