Portland cops find man shot dead inside a car

Update: The call of the shooting was at Southeast 72nd Avenue and Mitchell Court and the call came in to dispatch at 3:05 a.m. As officers were conducting their investigation into the shooting the call of the crash came in to North. These incidents are related.

The call of the crash came in at 3:25 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene of the crash they found one adult male in the car deceased, one adult male shot and an adult female who had been in the car who was uninjured.

The adult male who was injured is suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

At this point, preliminarily, this incident does not appear to be gang related.

No additional details are available at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.

Today, Thursday March 22, 2012 at about 3:30 a.m. Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a call of a shooting in Southeast Portland. A short time later Officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a crash at Martin Luther King JR BLVD and San Rafael and discovered a male adult deceased in the car.

At this point investigators believe the two incidents are related. Homicide Detectives are responding to the scene of the crash at this time.

More details will be released as they become available.
