On Thursday at 4 p.m., Washington State School for the Blind students and their families will fill baskets with “beeping” Easter eggs and treats. With the assistance of 35 volunteers, approximately 50 children will seek out eggs that emit a beeping sound. The unique “beep eggs,” provided by Century Link Pioneers’ Oregon Chapter, are engineered with electronic circuit boards, batteries and telephone speakers.
After the egg hunt, students and their families will take part in the WSSB/Washington School for the Deaf carnival, sponsored by local Lions Clubs in WSSB’s Kennedy Fitness Building. The WSSB campus is at 2214 E. 13th Street.
The Century Link Pioneers’ Oregon Chapter consists of active and retired Century Link employees and retirees from former Bell System companies. In 2011, the Century Link Pioneers’ celebrated 100 years of community service and promoting educational and environmental projects.
