People in business
• Kristen Turek has joined the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington as donor and nonprofit services officer. She spent the past 10 years at the Marin Community Foundation in Novato, Calif.
o Scott Edwards has joined Vancouver law firm Schauermann, Thayer, Jacobs & Staples P.S. Edwards’ previous experience includes representing insurance companies at Portland law firm Smith, Freed and Eberhard and working as in-house counsel at Liberty Mutual Insurance.
• Linda Glover has been elected to a second term as president of Vancouver’s Downtown Association. Other officers include Alishia Topper, vice president; Charlene Dahlen, secretary; and Linda McLain, treasurer. Vancouver’s Downtown Association is a 501(c3) nonprofit group that is focused on economic development of the city’s central core through working with residents, businesses, property owners and visitors.
• Kristin LeGrand has joined the Providence Medical Group to practice family medicine. She earned her medical degree from Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Family Medicine of Southwest Washington.
• Gordon Oliver has been appointed business editor of The Columbian. Oliver has been a business reporter at The Columbian since November 2010, and was previously a reporter and assistant editor for metro and business news at The Oregonian. He is a Portland native and graduate of Portland State University.
• Don Owen has joined the staff of Sigma Design as a product development specialist. Owen will be responsible for creating custom interfaces for electronic hardware and instruments. Sigma Design, 1714 Broadway St., is a product design and engineering services firm.
New business
• Sweet Spot Sports has opened at 105 W. Sixth St. The retail store sells skirts and accessories and has an event space and a manufacturing location for custom creations. Seamstresses are available to create custom patterned skirts. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
• Seventh Son Cellars, a wine shop in Ridgefield, opened Feb. 25. The business, at 120 N. Third Ave., Ridgefield, is owned and operated by Ridgefield residents April and Joel McGinley and managed by their daughter, Kristine McGinley. It carries Snake River Valley wine fermented at the family’s winery in Weiser, Idaho, and features wine-related gifts and accessories as well as prints by Washington watercolor artist Eric Wiegardt.

• Most Everything is celebrating one year in business. The vintage lifestyle boutique recently moved to 815 Washington St. It sells vintage clothing for men and women, accessories, mid-century furniture and lamps, vinyl, collectibles and original art.
