Brush Prairie — Two county-sponsored tree-planting events in February brought out volunteers of all sorts and a whopping 2,500 trees were planted in Hockinson Meadows Community Park. On Feb. 11, 77 volunteers from Crossroads Community Church, Restorative Community Services, local high schools, the Cub Scouts and the neighborhood planted nearly 1,700 trees. Then on Feb. 20, 59 volunteers, most of them from Hocksinson Cub Scout dens, planted more than 800 more trees. “The plantings were a huge success, despite the cold, rainy weather,” said volunteer coordinator Karen Trout.
