A Vancouver woman was hospitalized — and two other people were arrested — after a high-speed single-car accident on Northeast 78th Street at Interstate 5 in Hazel Dell early Saturday, according to a bulletin from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The bulletin said the incident occurred at 4:52 a.m. when a car speeding west on Northeast 78th Street went out of control at or west of Northeast Highway 99, crossed a low-profile median and careened across oncoming lanes, over an island that separates right and left turn lanes on the Interstate 5 northbound off ramp, destroying traffic control signs and a traffic signal before finally crashing into the bridge structure.
One of the car’s occupants ran from the scene but was found shortly thereafter, according to the CCSO. Another person in the vehicle suffered injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel from Fire District 6. A third person in the vehicle was treated and released for minor injuries.
Temika Beasley, 27, of Vancouver was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. She was reported in satisfactory condition Saturday evening.
