Spelling is certainly entertaining whensix quirky adolescents compete for the spelling championship of a lifetime in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” This musical comedy also invites four members of the audience to compete in the spelling bee along with the six characters. The Clark College Theater Department is presenting the play.

2. Milkshakes and kisses
The final performances of “Bye Bye Birdie” are on tap. It’s a musical set in the era of sock hops and drive-ins. Popular singer Conrad Birdie and his songwriter Albert Peterson come up with a publicity stunt to promote the song “One Last Kiss” before the singer is drafted into the Army. Birdie will give a “last kiss” to a lucky girl on television, but the publicity stunt goes comically wrong for everyone involved. The play is presented by Christian Youth Theater.

3. Sounds of glee
All the way from the University of Virginia, the Virginia Glee Club, one of the top collegiate men’s choruses in the country, makes a stop at Union High School during the club’s West Coast tour. The group, which says it is in its 141st year, will perform a wide array of classics, folk and spiritual songs with the Union High School Select Men’s Ensemble and Portland State University’s Man Choir.
