A Vancouver man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder Saturday after he allegedly shot another man during an early-morning altercation over noise in the parking lot of an east Vancouver apartment complex, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Chris D. Paul, 31, was taken into custody for allegedly shooting another man to death during an early-morning altercation over noise in the parking lot of Village at Cascade Park, 501 S.E. 123rd Ave., said VPD spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

Kapp said Paul had called authorities at 4:50 a.m. to report that he had left his apartment to respond to noise in the parking lot and got into an altercation with a man who also lived in the complex.

During the altercation, Paul reportedly told authorities, he shot the man with a handgun, Kapp said.

Emergency responders transported the man to the hospital, but he did not survive. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Kapp said.

Paul was arrested by detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Team and booked into the Clark County Jail. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to make a first appearance on the charge Monday morning, according to a jail official.
