Try This: Celebrating barn, history

Heisen House Vineyards will host its third annual Barn Bash celebrating the restoration and preservation of the historic Heisen Barn. The farm-style celebration will feature historical displays, family games, live music, work by artisans, food, tours of the homestead and a collection of Heisen family quilts. Both the Heisen House and Barn are listed on the state and national historic registers.

2. Latte Da anniversary

Latte Da Coffee House and Wine Bar will celebrate its first year as a community hub with an anniversary party. The event features coffee, food and live music by Dogs and Beer, Tom Scharf, Tworivers, River City and Friends and Grammy award-winning acoustic guitarist Doug Smith.

3. Big laughs on local stage

Honest Comedy is a stand-up comedy showcase hosted by local comedian Todd Armstrong. Headlining the show is 2012 CMT Next Big Comic Adam Norwest, along with up-and-coming comedians Stephanie Purtte and Lance Edward.

4. Sweet treats

Visitors can collect a few favorite recipes from the volunteers at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill during Treat Day. Cookies, cakes, scones, muffins and doggie biscuits are likely to turn up, with coffee and milk to top off the snacks. Visitors can explore the historic 1876 mill, which is one of the few braced-frame buildings left in Washington.

5. Get to know ‘People Like Us’

Sam Harper (Chris Pine), a fast-talking salesman, finds his latest deal collapsing on the day he learns his father has suddenly died.
