PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A man accused of attacking two transgender females in Portland was arrested for assault and intimidation, a bias crime.
The victims told police the 50-year-old man approached them as they tried to pass on a sidewalk Tuesday night and began yelling anti-gay slurs and profanity. They say he pulled off his belt and swung a large buckle at them, hitting one on the arms.
When officers first contacted the man he complained he had been pepper-sprayed by two people. But, when they walked up, he ran off and was chased down and arrested.
