State Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, will remain on the legislative oversight committee for the Columbia River Crossing project, a committee she helped create during this year’s legislative session, when she served as a member of the state House.
On Monday, Rivers resigned her House job to finish the last months of Joe Zarelli’s Senate term. Zarelli resigned on May 31.
The CRC oversight committee is tasked with asking transportations officials for updates on cost estimates, right-of-way purchases, projected traffic volumes and toll rates. It also coordinates with the Oregon Legislature’s Columbia River Crossing oversight committee.
The proposed CRC project would replace the Interstate 5 Bridge, extend light rail to Clark College, and rebuild freeway interchanges on both sides of the Columbia River.
