A 78-year-old man was rescued by firefighters after falling on a hike Wednesday with his wife at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
Battalion Chief Brett Graham said firefighters walked about a mile into the refuge to help the man. They took him about a half- mile on a wheeled stretcher and then took him out of the refuge on a John Deere Gator.
Seven Clark County Fire & Rescue firefighters responded to the incident, which happened about 2 p.m.
“We’re always prepared for (helping in the refuge)” Graham said.
