During his playing days, Clyde Drexler was careful not to say anything controversial.
Probably a wise move.
Because according to an excerpt from “Dream Team” by Jack McCallum, Drexler made some comments about Magic Johnson that was about three football fields away from classy.
In 1992, Johnson made 3 late 3-pointers in the NBA All-Star game just a few months after announcing his retirement from basketball due to HIV.
Said Drexler, who played exceptionally that game: “If we all knew Magic was going to live this long, I would’ve gotten the MVP of that game, and Magic probably wouldn’t have made the Olympic team.”
Wow.
Clyde went on to say how Magic “couldn’t guard his shadow” by the time he got to the Olympics, even though he had knocked Drexler’s Blazers out of the playoffs just one year earlier.
Was Drexler on the Dream Team?
Yes.
Was he a dream teammate?
Maybe not.

The NCAA bosses approved a four-team playoff to decide college football’s national champion, a change that will be implemented in 2014.
Talking Points likes the idea, but still thinks eight teams would be the perfect blend of mixing conference champions with at-large teams like a Boise State — who might go undefeated but not be as tested as a one-loss team in a BCS conference.
Nevertheless, this will make it a lot harder for anyone to feel snubbed at the end of the year.

More proof that soccer will kill us and that every one of us in America should try to resist the game.
A 26-year-old Chinese man died at his home recently, all because of soccer.
The dude was a bit obsessive.
His goal was to watch every single match from Euro 2012.
Of course, in order to do so where he lived, he had to watch matches that were played in the wee hours of the morning. Then he did not sleep during the day.
The guy went 11 nights without sleep. Plus, he drank a lot of alcohol and smoked. That combination turned deadly.
We could blame the smokes. The booze. The sleep deprivation.
But it’s a lot more fun just to blame soccer.
