Three children from the Portland-Vancouver area were taken out of a sex-trafficking ring over the weekend as part of a series of FBI stings across the country.
Six adults were arrested in the area for promoting prostitution and three adults were also cited on suspicion of prostitution, according to an FBI news bulletin.
Stings like this one often start with intelligence gathered by officers in local jurisdictions, FBI spokeswoman Beth Ann Steele said in a statement. Arrests often lead to more information on sex trafficking, she said.
Law enforcement and social service agencies are working with each of the recovered children to provide counseling, mental health services, medical assistance, housing and advocacy resources.
