Major League Soccer suspended Portland Timbers defender Hanyer Mosquera for three games for striking LA forward Jack McBean during the Galaxy’s 1-0 victory last Sunday night.

Mosquera was also fined, though the amount was not disclosed.

Mosquera’s suspension will begin on Sunday, when the Timbers host Seattle Sounders FC.

Sounders U-23s top Timbers — An 88th-minute goal from Fernando Monge on Friday lifted the Seattle Sounders U-23s to a 4-3 win over the Portland Timbers U-23s in a Premier Development League match at Kiggins Bowl.

Mark Sherrod, Erik Hurtado and Cam Vickers scored for Portland. The Sounders scoring included an own goal from Portland, a penalty kick from Aodhan Quinn and a Sean Morris tally. Seattle (6-2-3) is third in the Northwest Division. Portland (6-3-1) is in fourth place.

Women’s match a 2-2 draw — Two late goals earned Emerald City FC from Seattle a 2-2 draw with the Portland Rain on Friday at Kiggins Bowl. Ellie Boon of Washougal and 2000 Battle Ground graduate Nicole Strong scored goals for the Rain in the Women’s Premier Soccer League match. A steal by Hockinson’s Aurora Bodenhamer set up a 25-yard shot by Strong for the second goal.

The team from Seattle earned the draw with a pair of goals inside the final 20 minutes.
