Portland Timbers forward Brent Richards will be at an Orchards-area Burgerville on Thursday to be recognized by the Timbers Army Northern Alliance.
The Northern Alliance is the Southwest Washington chapter of the Timbers Army supporters group. It will recognize Richards by presenting him with a special Northern Alliance scarf. A Camas native, Richards is in his first Major League Soccer season and is the first home grown player signed by the Timbers.
The scarfing ceremony is expected to happen between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m., part of a Timbers Army Northern Alliance charity event that runs 6 to 9 p.m. at the Burgerville at 10903 NE Fourth Plain.
Members of the Timbers Army Northern Alliance will be at the restaurant to collect funds for the Orchards Elementary School “Pennies for Peru” project. Students at Orchards Elementary raise money to assist a school in the remote mountains of Peru. Between 6 and 9 p.m., 10 percent of revenue at the Orchards Burgerville will be donated to the Pennies for Peru project, according to event organizer Troy Maxcy.
