A 22-year-old Vader man was arrested Monday after the dirt bike he was riding struck a Washington State Patrol car and he rode off, the patrol said.

The man, whose name was not released, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant, a parole violation. The 2002 Suzuki dual sport motorcycle he was riding was stolen, said Trooper Ryan Tanner.

The incident happened about 5:07 p.m. near state Highway 502 and Interstate 5. A trooper said the rider was westbound on 502 traveling 81 mph in a 50 mph zone.

The eastbound trooper made a U-turn to apprehend the westbound biker.

Then the biker made a U-turn to head back east and the bike’s tire hit the patrol car, causing very minor damage.

The rider sped off east and attempted to leave the highway ar about the 3700 block when he ditched the bike. He ran into a nearby backyard and was apprehended, Tanner said.
