CARSON, Calif. — Todd Dunivant scored the lone goal to help the Los Angeles Galaxy snap a seven-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over the Portland Timbers on Sunday night.

David Beckham’s corner kick found Dunivant on the far post in the 61st minute. The Galaxy defender eluded his marker and beat Portland goalkeeper Troy Perkins for the game’s only goal.

The match was the first appearance for Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Saunders, who last played on April 21st and has missed the last seven games due to his presence in the league’s substance abuse and behavioral health program.

In his return, the Galaxy goalkeeper made four saves to give the Galaxy their first shutout of the season. His finest moment came in the 26th minute when he made a sprawling save to stop a Kris Boyd shot from 35 yards.
