FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 1220 N.E. 68th St., is posting signs to show its support of marriage equality. The church purchased 50 yard signs for members to put in front of their homes that state, “My church supports marriage equality.” As part of its support for marriage equality, the church will have a free public screening of the documentary “For the Bible Tells Me So” at 7 p.m. The documentary features Bishop Desmond Tutu. * 360-693-1476, info@vanucc.org.

JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES invite all Spanish-speaking residents to attend a free district convention beginning at 9:20 a.m. June 22 or 9:20 a.m. June 29 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland. The theme of the convention is “Safeguard your Heart.” The daily themes and programs are based on passages of Scripture and will be presented in Spanish.

EAST WOODS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH offers an evening Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through fifth grade, 5 to 8 p.m. June 24-28 at the church, 16210 N.E. 20th St. A light meal will be served. OTHER CHURCH NEWS

THE CROSSING, a local United Methodist Church, has awarded a $3,000 grant to SELF (Support for Early Learning and Families) to support an early learning public awareness campaign. The grant will help fund printing materials for the campaign, Children Can’t Wait, addressing the issues about kindergarten readiness. The church, formed in 2011, meets at York Elementary School.
