A event today will mark the official groundbreaking for a Camas company that purchased the city’s landmark American Legion Hall and plans to renovate the structure into a headquarters and manufacturing facility.
At 1 p.m., local business leaders will gather at the building at 1553 N.E. Third Ave. to cheer on the construction start for CID Bio-Science, which designs and makes instruments for agricultural research. The company expects to spend $1 million on the project, which has an anticipated late-2012 move-in date. The 17-employee company plans to grow by two workers this year, one of the reasons given for its renovation project.
Private and public research clients buy products from CID, including agricultural businesses, seed hybridizers, universities, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Forest Service. CID will move from its present offices at 4901 N.W. Camas Meadows Drive.
