The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency will soon accept nominations for two local committees that help shape federal farm programs.

Two Local Administrative Area groups — one representing east Clark County, the other representing Cowlitz County — will be included in this year’s elections. The Lower Columbia Farm Service Agency, based in Brush Prairie, is accepting nominations for candidates between June 15 and Aug. 1.

To be eligible, local growers must participate in at least one Farm Service Agency program and be of legal voting age, according to the agency. Nomination forms can be picked up and submitted back to the agency’s office at 11104 N.E. 149th St. More information is also available at www.fsa.usda.gov/.

The committees up for elections this year are two of five groups in the Lower Columbia region. The local agency office serves Clark, Cowlitz, Skamania and Wahkiakum counties.
