A body found in the Columbia River near Woodland last Sunday evening has been identified as that of a Camas man.

Christopher Michael Kane, 57, was found Sunday afternoon near the Clark/Cowlitz county line. An autopsy, the results of which were released Friday afternoon, helped establish his identity.

Kane, who worked at a local technology company, was last seen alive on Dec. 5. He owned a boat that was kept moored at a Hayden Island marina in North Portland. His truck was found parked at the marina.

The autopsy established that Kane had died months ago, likely just before he was reported missing. The cause of death was a gunshot wound, which was ruled to have been self-inflicted, according to Cowlitz sheriff’s deputies.
