A mix of technology, innovation by students from Washington State University Vancouver, and business support from Vancouver-based Dick Hannah Dealerships will come to fruition with the unveiling of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry’s newest exhibit, “Autovation: Innovation Plus Auto Tech,” which opens Tuesday.

The exhibit is the product of a collaboration between the Portland-based museum, Dick Hannah, and WSUV’s Creative Media and Digital Culture program. Students have worked since last December on creating what will become a permanent exhibit at the museum.

Development of the exhibit has been featured in The Columbian throughout the year, and articles are available on the newspaper’s website at Columbian.com/Business/autovation.

The exhibit will highlight advances in automobile technology through the use of augmented reality. Visitors will be able to view the inner workings of cars on display through provided iPads, letting guests interact with 3D engines, fuel injectors and transmissions.

“Autovation” will be installed in the museum’s engineering-themed Turbine Hall.
