Liao earns Eagle Scout rank
Jonathan Liao of Camas has earned his Eagle Scout, the highest honor given by the Boy Scouts of America.
Liao, 16, will be recognized in a ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Camas United Methodist Church.
He is a member of Troop 565, of the Columbia Gorge District of the Cascade Pacific Council.
Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community or church-related service project to earn an Eagle Scout. For his project, Liao constructed a trellis and custom soil bin for the Two Rivers Heritage Museum in Washougal.
Liao is a sophomore at Camas High School and participates on the Science Olympiad team. He is a part of the Magnet program and a member of the National Honor Society. Liao also is an avid pianist, who volunteers twice a month to play at the Mountainview House assisted living facility in Camas and the Touchmark retirement community in Vancouver.
He is the son of Ike and Sandra Liao.
Free immunization clinic set June 12
Lacamas Medical Group, 3240 N.E. Third Ave., will host a free immunization clinic for school-age chilldren on Tuesday, June 12 from 2 to 6 p.m.Children must be accompanied by a parent and have a copy of their current immunization record.
