Woman hospitalized after her car hits Washougal home

A Washougal woman was sent to the hospital with minor injuries Monday after her car went off the road and hit a house off Southeast Stiles Road in Washougal.

The crash was reported just after noon at 2581 33rd Court, according to emergency dispatch logs. The home backs to Stiles Road, which sits on a grade about 30 feet above the home, said Camas-Washougal fire Battalion Chief Larry Larimer.

The driver Melinda Tanner, 31, of Washougal was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot, said Washougal police Sgt. Geoff Reijonen.

Camas-Washougal fire and East County Fire & Rescue responded.

Tanner was sent to the hospital as a precaution, Larimer said. Her injuries were believed to be minimal, he said.

A fence was knocked down, landscaping was damaged, a wooden patio cover was destroyed and a kitchen window was broken in the crash.

A homeowner was inside at the time of the crash, Larimer said.

“There didn’t appear to be any significant structural damage to the house,” Larimer said, noting that electrical, water and gas lines didn’t appear to be affected. He estimated there was potentially several thousand dollars of damage to the home.

“It was about as fortunate all the way around as you could be,” he said.
