Starting Monday, the speed limit on Interstate 5 near Woodland will be temporarily lowered from 70 mph to 60 mph, the Washington State Department of Transportation said.

The speed limit will be reduced from just south of the Cowlitz County line to one mile north of Woodland, or from mileposts 19.7 to 24.2. The reduction will remain in place while crews resurface the deck of the North Fork of the Lewis River Bridge and complete preservation work on the I-5 bridge over Dike Road.

The speed reduction will start at 7 a.m. Monday and remain until construction is complete this fall.

Drivers can also expect daytime single lane closures and nighttime double lane closures on the bridges.

This work is part of the $6 million project to repave I-5 between Woodland and Kalama.
