State transportation officials have issued a 3-ton emergency weight restriction on the Klickitat River Bridge on Highway 142 just east of Klickitat near Milepost 17.
The 6,000-pound weight restriction was issued May 31, one day after a routine bridge inspection found the underside of the bridge deck was corroding. The bridge carries about 580 vehicles each day.
Freight vehicles such as tractor-trailer rigs should use Highway 14 and U.S. Highway 97 as a detour.
