Vancouver — GasBuddy, operator of WashingtonGasPrices.com, said Friday that it expects local gasoline prices to fall in the coming days due to a dollar-per-gallon drop in wholesale gasoline prices in the past week. The company noted that a “sudden” successful restart of BP’s Cherry Point refinery in Blaine helped alleviate concerns about tight supply.
Oil prices fell almost immediately, and dropped further Friday on news of a weak jobs report, GasBuddy said. “A week ago, I don’t think anyone saw this coming,” said GasBuddy Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. He now expects the average price for gasoline to fall to less than $4 per gallon in Western Washington and Oregon in the next few weeks.
