The immigrant rights group OneAmerica will host a series of town hall meetings around Washington to inform immigrant students about new federal regulations.
In mid-June, the White House announced it would grant undocumented youth who meet certain requirements temporary relief from deportation. This action is estimated to benefit about 800,000 young people across the country, including some 25,000 in Washington.
The youths must apply for the deferred status. The town hall meetings will help them and their families prepare for the process. Federal officials may announce details about the application process as early as Wednesday, according to a statement from OneAmerica.
The Vancouver town hall is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.
