The Columbian
Published: July 28, 2012, 5:00pm

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Gripe to NBC all you want about the Olympics opening ceremony being showed on a tape-delay basis.

The 2012 edition was seen in the U.S. by 40.7 million people, making it the most-watched opening ceremony for a summer or winter Olympics.

Tweeted sports business reported Darren Rovell: “Context: NBC’s ideal viewer is someone who doesn’t get sports text alerts, doesn’t appointment stream or get on Twitter.”

It remains to be seen how NBC’s taped primetime Olympic events will fare ratings-wise since all events are available as live streaming video … you know, as it happens.
