Washington State Patrol troopers are bidding farewell to the classic Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Ford Motor Company has stopped making the popular police car, so the State Patrol is switching over to the Chevrolet Caprice. The new cars will have the same colors and decals.
The State Patrol is working with Boeing to streamline their process of outfitting the new cars. They’re equipping 18 to 20 cars per month with radios, lights, computers, cameras, PA systems and that very special back seat.
Other models of cars will be outfitted as unmarked vehicles.
The last new Crown Victoria was put into service in June, so Police Interceptors will still be patrolling Washington roads for a while.
